This new Urtext edition, by the leading Ravel scholar, Roger Nichols, is based on all available manuscript and printed sources, and the first recording (1932), made under Ravel’s supervision. It includes an historical preface, in which Roger Nichols considers the origins of the work and early public reaction, and a critical commentary.
